Useful Advice to entrants
As a guide we provide a list of information bullet points which are often included in successful entries, which can sometimes be overlooked.
Highlight a product’s differentiating technology
This is vitally important for product categories. Figures which quantify the performance of a product supported by user recommendations are a potential winning combination.
Explain the function of a product or business activity
This is a simple aspect which can easily be overlooked in entries. The judges need to understand the relevance of a product or business activity to the market before they can make a decision. The clearer this is, the better your chances of being successful.
Evidence of market research and customer feedback
This is important for project-related entries but is equally powerful in product categories when judging quality of new product introductions. Properly conducted market research, if independently carried out, is a potential winning element.
Evidence of sales and profit performance
Like-for-like figures on an annual basis are the most powerful.
Evidence of how engineering staff have contributed to successful projects
Entries which clearly demonstrate the roles of a company’s engineers or marketing staff in both product development and market introduction activities are more likely to impress the judges.
Good luck with your entry.
