    TIPS ON WRITING AN ENTRY

The first thing to remember is that the judges are busy people, and they are going to be reading many entries, so they will want to read concise information.

  • Read the criteria relevant to your category on the Elektra website and write something specifically based on those criteria.
  • Don’t worry if you are not the greatest writer since Shakespeare, as no one is judging your skills with English. That said, please don’t make it too hard for the judges.
You have 500 words to share amongst four criteria, so 125 words each as a rough guide, with word count re-allocated where you see fit.
  • Use your expertise to give the judges the information you think they will need to recognise the best in your company, product or service.
  • If an entry is more than 500 words long, it could experience summarily truncation to 500 words before the judges see it.
  • If the entry is about a product, please mention the part number.

I AM TEMPTED TO USE A PRESS RELEASE AS MY ENTRY- IS THAT WISE?
No, few press releases are concise enough. If you are copying and pasting a press release, you are doing something wrong, read the above answer again. It is also unwise to attach a press release as supplementary information.

CAN I ENTER MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE CATEGORY?
Only one entry per company per category please - after all, you are the experts in your company, products and services. Decide what of yours best meets the criteria and concentrate your effort on that. In the event of multiple entries from one company in one category, we will arbitrarily select one to present to the judges.

CAN I PUT ONE COMPANY, PRODUCT OR SERVICE IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY?
Yes, providing it is clearly relevant to all categories concerned. However much signal processing it does, an all-digital chip is never going to win analogue product of the year. Conversely, a digital-in-the-loop power device might meet both power and digital category criteria, and your company could indeed be the best manufacturer this year, and have implemented the greenest company policy.
