The winners of the Elektra Awards are chosen by experts drawn from the industry.  Each category is judged by its own panel normally comprising around four people selected from the industry for their expertise, and also a representative of the category sponsor.  A representative of Electronics Weekly presides over the judging but does not vote unless there is a tie.

Entries are thoroughly read and discussed.  The judges are chosen because they know the difference between what is common in the industry and what is truly outstanding and deserves to be rewarded.
